UIT Students Crowned Champions of Zalo AI Challenge 2025
An inter-university team comprising students from the University of Information Technology, VNU-HCM (UIT) and the University of Science, VNU-HCM (HCMUS) has won First Prize at Zalo AI Challenge 2025, one of the largest and most prestigious Artificial Intelligence competitions in Vietnam.

After two highly competitive rounds, Team AIO_C3A—including three UIT students Nguyễn Cẩm Trân, Trần Trọng Nhân, and Võ Cao Nguyên, full-time students of the Class of 2024, Faculty of Computer Science—collaborated with their teammates to research, develop, and deploy an AI solution for a drone-based rescue problem titled:
“AeroEyes: Finding and Rescuing with AI-Powered Drones.”
The proposed solution not only achieved high accuracy but also demonstrated fast processing speed and low computational cost when deployed on drone hardware. Notably, instead of sacrificing speed for accuracy in real-world deployment, the team strategically balanced both performance and detection capability. This optimal trade-off enabled them to outperform other strong contenders in the final round.

Launched on October 27, Zalo AI Challenge 2025 attracted thousands of teams nationwide, featuring two applied AI problem tracks with a total prize value exceeding VND 300 million. Under the theme “AI as an Efficient Partner,” the competition emphasized AI’s role as a reliable collaborator supporting humans in solving real-world challenges.
Winning First Prize at Zalo AI Challenge 2025 stands as strong evidence of the UIT students’ technical expertise, research mindset, and ability to translate AI knowledge into practical applications. At the same time, the achievement further affirms the high quality of education and the dynamic academic environment at the University of Information Technology.
